This is a high - quality vinyl LP pressing of Basra by the renowned drummer Pete La Roca. By 1965 when he recorded this debut album, Pete La Roca had already been a sideman in nine Blue Note sessions and played in bands led by jazz greats Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. He brought in tenor saxophone legend Joe Henderson as the sole horn voice for a powerful quartet. The rhythm section, featuring bassist Steve Swallow and pianist Steve Kuhn, was hailed by liner note writer Ira Gitler as 'one of the most attuned rhythm sections in jazz'.
