Product Description

The Audio-Technica AT4040 side-address condenser microphone is a remarkable audio tool. Its advanced large diaphragm is precisely tensioned to deliver smooth and natural sound. It combines technical accuracy with artistic inspiration, offering extremely low noise, a wide dynamic range, and high-SPL capability for maximum flexibility. This highly consistent microphone can be used confidently in various studio and live miking situations, even meeting the strict requirements of digital recording systems. The low-noise, symmetrical, and transformerless circuitry results in excellent transient response and clean output signals, allowing for clear reproduction of difficult instruments and sound effects. Key features include a technically-advanced large diaphragm for great sound, an externally polarized true condenser design, low noise and wide range for versatility, transformerless circuitry to reduce distortion, a precision-machined baffle for stability, a symmetrical housing to minimize reflections, state-of-the-art electronics for reliability, a custom shock mount for isolation, and switchable 80 Hz hi-pass filter and 10 dB pad. Specifications include an externally-polarized condenser element, cardioid polar pattern, 20 - 20,000 Hz frequency response, 80 Hz low frequency roll-off, -32 dB open circuit sensitivity, 100 ohms impedance, 145 dB SPL maximum input sound level (155 dB SPL with 10 dB pad), 12 dB SPL noise, 133 dB dynamic range, 82 dB signal-to-noise ratio, 48V DC phantom power requirement, flat/roll-off and 10 dB pad switches, 12.7 oz (360 g) weight, 6.69' (170.0 mm) long and 2.10' (53.4 mm) maximum body diameter, integral 3-pin XLRM-type output connector, and comes with AT8449a shock mount, microphone dust cover, protective carrying case, and Style R1 case.

Using the Audio-Technica AT4040 is quite straightforward. First, connect it to your audio device using the integral 3 - pin XLRM - type output connector. Make sure to supply the required 48V DC phantom power. You can use the switchable 80 Hz hi - pass filter to reduce low - frequency noise and the 10 dB pad for high - sound - level sources. When setting it up, use the included AT8449a shock mount to isolate the microphone from vibrations. In terms of maintenance, keep the microphone clean by using the provided dust cover. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. When not in use, store it in the protective carrying case. If you notice any issues with the sound quality, check the connections and the power supply first. With proper use and care, this microphone will serve you well for a long time.
